“Activating Your Brain’s Unique Catalytic Converter for Deep Cleansing and Regeneration”
New Studies on the Brain’s Deep Cleansing Power
You may have seen an ever-increasing number of blog posts and articles in the news lately about the importance of getting a good night’s sleep. Deep sleep, that is…
Maiken Nedergaard, M.D., D.M.Sc., co-director of the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) Center for Translational Neuromedicine says, “The restorative nature of sleep appears to be the result of the active clearance of the by-products of neural activity that accumulate during wakefulness.”
In other words, simply put, the brain burns energy and produces a corrosive by-product but has it’s own “catalytic converter” to clean up the waste left behind from the fuel burn. A simple, elegant design–when it works!
Health Challenges of Living in a Technologically Advanced Age
Some of the latest research shows why getting to those deeps stages of sleep, particularly the levels of “Delta” brainwave function, are so important for maintaining ideal physical and emotional health. Moreover, this research indicates why getting this deep level of sleep is also more challenging than ever before.
This is due to an ever-increasing exposure to electro-magnetic field radiation, cell and microwave tower field radiation, and other noise and light disruptions brought about by the many modern advancements in electronic and digital technology.
With the additional toxic chemical pollutants we are exposed to, especially living and commuting in larger metropolitan areas, along with consuming foods laced with chemicals, pesticides and genetically modified organisms, we now find our bodies working harder and harder to maintain ideal health and well-being–physically, mentally, and emotionally. All of these electro-chemical influences naturally interfere with our sleep patterns, as well…
Related Underlying Causes of Dementia and Alzheimer’s
New research has indicated that there is also a direct link between mental health issues such as dementia, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer’s, and the lack of deep sleep. Not just regarding how many hours one sleeps, but especially whether one is getting enough of that specific level of “Delta” brainwave function, which is generally only activated during deep stages of sleep.
(Incidentally, during a full 8 hours of sleep, only 25% or less of that time is spent in the deep delta stages–that is, if you can get an uninterrupted night of sleep!)
So why is this brainwave so important?
Your Brain’s Unique Catalytic Converter
When you burn fuel to power your car, there is a natural corrosive by-product created, hydrocarbons, including carbon monoxide. This is why your car has a system to not only reduce environmental pollution, but also to help to improve the functional efficiency of the system: This system is called a “catalytic converter.”
Likewise, when the brain is burning energy throughout the day, there is a corrosive by-product that accumulates within the brain –amyloid beta protein. Recent research has discovered that the brain has it’s own unique “catalytic converter” called the Glymphatic System to help cleanse the brain and prevent or greatly reduce the residual “build-up” of this damaging corrosive protein.
Cause of Neurodegenerative Disease
Dr.Nedergaard says: “The breakdown of the brain’s innate clearance system may in fact underlie the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s disease, in addition to ALS and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).”
Jeffrey Iliff, Ph.D., a research assistant professor in the Nedergaard lab, says, “In every organ, waste clearance is as basic an issue as how nutrients are delivered.
…In essentially all neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, protein waste accumulates and eventually suffocates and kills the neuronal network of the brain.”
He goes on to say, “If the glymphatic system fails to cleanse the brain as it is meant to, either as a consequence of normal aging, or in response to brain injury, waste may begin to accumulate in the brain. This may be what is happening with amyloid deposits in Azheimer’s disease.
Perhaps increasing the activity of the glmyphatic system might help prevent amyloid deposition from building up or could offer a new way to clean out buildups of the material in established
Alzheimer’s disease.”
How the Healing Spectrums can help to Activate the Glymphatic System
Preliminary university brain lab studies have shown that the Healing Spectrums Method spontaneously enlivens the unique brainwave function that is normally present during the deepest stages of sleep which, in turn, activates and accelerates the body’s natural healing processes. This is an important brainwave function for the entire body and especially for the brain.
While the Healing Spectrums Method is not meant to replace normal deep sleep, it does quickly enhance the brainwave function that also supports the Glymphatic System.
This has the potential to be used as a complementary adjunct in the treatment and prevention of various neurological diseases such as dementia, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s disease, ALS, and even diabetes–all of which share a common deficiency: the brain’s diminished capacity to produce adequate levels of Delta brainwaves, a deep sleep stage brainwave.
As we have seen in other research studies, this very important brainwave catalyst for cleansing and rejuvenation continues to decline as we age, often generally reduced by as much as 40-45 % by the age of 45-50 and virtually absent in by late 80’s and beyond.
Is it any wonder why there are so many studies that all point to the importance of getting a good night’s sleep?
However, as the brain ages, sometimes getting 8 hours of sleep may still not produce the necessary deep stage delta necessary to effectively activate our body’s natural healing processes on a regular basis, especially for those with existing neurodegenerative disease.
Learning the Healing Spectrums Method is easy
One can easily learn the Healing Spectrums Self-Treatment Method and use it anytime, as often as one likes, to activate and cultivate greater stability of the unique healing brainwave necessary for maintaining ideal health and well-being.
Individuals can also receive sessions from Thomas and other certified practitioners of the Healing Spectrums Method, as well as participate in the various sessions and Healing Spectrums for Health and Wholeness Programs.
