How to Reduce Airport Stress:
If you have airline travel plans, you are probably aware of the policies in security, especially regarding the full body scanners or the alternative “enhanced pat down.” These are obvious invasions of your personal space and they are stirring quite a bit of controversy and adding to the general stress of airline travel. This stress takes it’s toll on your physical and emotional well-being. So it is certainly helpful to take extra steps to minimize that stress while traveling. What can you do? Here are a few helpful suggestions…
1. Try to get a good night’s sleep, if possible, before your day of travel.
2. Hydrate yourself (drink plenty of water) in the days leading up to travel. We often don’t get enough hydration during travel which can also contribute to fatigue, changes in blood pressure, and possible digestive imbalances during travel.
3. Arrive early so that you are not rushing. This alone will save you from lots of stress.
4. Familiarize yourself with the security policies in advance with a little online research. Know what to expect.
5. To scan or not to scan? That is the question!
There are those who don’t seem to have a problem with this. But many do, for either health concerns or for personal privacy/rights issues. For the latter, the only other option is to have the “enhanced pat down.” Pretty invasive, from what I have seen. Or, not to travel on the airlines…
Here is the key to minimizing this new travel challenge:
1. Acknowledge the fact that if you choose to fly, you will have to choose one or the other of these methods. Yes, they are invasive to your personal space, but right or wrong, you won’t make it to your destination without choosing.
2. Once you have decided, then you have a choice to either be angry or upset about it and suffer through the experience–or realize that you have made the choice to go through with it and simply be present to the experience. Let go of the attachment to being upset about it or even being upset with those who are administering these methods. You are the only one who is responsible for how you “feel” at any given moment.
I’m sure there are many other great suggestions out there about how to get more joy out of your travels. (Of course, I use my Healing Spectrums Self-Treatment Technique to significantly reduce “jet lag” and other effects of travel.) Please send us your suggestions that we may pass on for the benefit of our fellow travelers.
I wish you all happy travels!

(You may ask if I condone these new security policies. What really matters is what is the agreement on the level of collective consciousness? I’ve never been a big fan of “fear” as a policy and I hope that one day soon, there will be a point of critical mass when collective consciousness will replace the policies of fear with a new paradigm. As David Hawkins says. “I am an infinite being–subject only to that which is held in mind.” You do have the power to bring positive change. You are much more empowered to bring that change to yourself and to others when you function from a place that transcends fear and promotes peace and joy in life.)
